I guess with new browsers like Google’s Chrome and FireFox 4 could be launched soon, Microsoft is trying to keep up with the trend. According to word on the internet, Microsoft is prepping to announced the Beta Version of their Internet Explorer 9 on September 15th at a press event in San Francisco.

Early builds of IE9 have been floating around the internet for a while, but the most up-to-date beta builds and builds that are probably considered too buggy for public consumption, have been reserved only for Microsoft beta testers.
The beta version of the browser will probably be real close to the final version while will be launched at an unannounced date. I am expecting it to have a bunch of personalization features and in my opinion I think Microsoft is gonna try to out do the Google Chrome Browser which seem to be a crowd favorite at the moment.
