Hey y’all I am just here to announced the launch of BuddyPress 1.0 for guys like me who has blogs and want to build a community for their friends. Just in case this is the first you are hearing about BuddyPress, it is a suite of WordPress plugins and themes, with each adding a different distinct new function, it contains all the features you would expect from WordPress but was built to let users interact with each other.
All the Plugins for BuddyPress can be themed to match your style, just the same as a WordPress Blog. All BuddyPress plugins can be used on existing blog network to add new features or they can be used to build your own Social Community from bottom to top. The BuddyPress Software plugin comes with a whole lot of interesting features like any Social Media Software out there.
Features

BuddyPress has features such as an Extended Profile feature that gives the admin the option to add profile fields for site members to fill in.
Private Messaging

One you have gotten BuddyPress up and running your members will be able to private message each other just like you were on Facebook or any of those Social Networking Websites.
Friends

Members get connected when they add each other as friends. There is a friendlist that members can browse and also cancel/delete people that they don’t want to be connected to.
There are also cool features such as the ability to make Groups and invite your friends to join, or even tracking recent post of the user’s blog.
Right now I am thinking of installing it on here and giving it a test run.
