Sometime in May of this year I got an email from a representative of the Blu Cigs Affiliates Program asking (practically begging) me to join their referral program. I reviewed their website and realized that the product that they offer falls in the niche of my Gadget Review Blog, as they offer Electronic Cigarettes for sale so I decided to give the program a trial. By adding a 300×250 banner on the homepage of my gadget blog and between May 13 – 20th I referred up to $234 in sales to Blu Cigs making a commission of $44. I really like the outcome of the trial so I decided to continue referring buyers to their website.
At the end of July I had generated over $100 in commission, by this time I removed the banner from the homepage because I had written a few post on the products offered by Blu Cigs so I was getting search engine traffic from the keyword “Blu Cigs” until I lost all the traffic from the Keyword (seems as if they had started SEO on that keyword and other sites promoting the product that had higher ranking than my Gadget Blog). That’s where I stopped referring customers but I had made almost $200 in commission which decreased over time to $115 (I guess some orders were canceled etc.).

Here is a screenshot of earnings with the Blu Cigs Affiliate Program.
At the end of August I sent an email to Blu Cigs asking when will I be getting paid and I got an email stating that a check has been sent out to me. Another month had pass and no check had appeared in my Mailbox, so I sent another email and this time the representative replied saying “She will check with the accounts department then she will get back with me” and to this date no reply.
The problem is not really with the unpaid funds, but with the way Blu Cigs operates what they call an affiliates program.

Same here. Blu Cigs affiliate program sucks! They suck!! They owe me hundreds of dollars in commissions and keep giving me the run a round just like they did with you for the past 3 months. My guess is they are a small company and “outsource” a lot of their accounting and CS that is poorly run. I told them if I did not receive a check by today (6/24/10) I was going to go on an online rampage spreading how they do business with their affiliates across the board.
As an affiliate marketer small companies like this give you a bad taste.

Steve I have contact that dude like six times and he keeps saying that the check is in the mail, and I have been hearing that since August 2009. I get alot of checks in the mail, from text-link-ads, from Google, from Amazon, from Technorati Media and a whole lot more programs and none of them every get loss, so i guess that’s the only one to get lost three times in a row..

Finally got paid after I threatened to use a domain like “blucigsscam.com” and SEO it to come up in search engines, thereby blacklisting them across the internet.
I no longer promote them.
Keron, if you have emails (legal for – in writing) from them promising you payment that you never received, I suggest you fight back! That is YOUR money.

Keron,
I have a campaign I would like to see if you would be interested in running for my company. We will be setup with a top notch affiliate network, and all of our affiliates commissions will be prepaid into an escrow account, so, no worries about getting paid. Feel free to get in touch with me if you’re interested.
I have added a good contact email address to the form above, so please, feel free to contact me there so that we can discuss this further.
Thanks in advance,
